Masthead for Conference

AsIAm is pleased to announce that we will host our Inaugural National Autism Conference, during World Autism Awareness Month, on Saturday 16th April 2016 in the surroundings of the Dublin Castle Conference Centre.Conference Centre

The conference will seek to showcase the philosophy, scale and range of priorities of our organisation over the course of just 1 day – a challenge, but one we feel we have met.

AsIAm passionately believes that every single person with Autism must have the opportunity to meet his/her personal potential. We are solution focused and believe that society must change to meet the needs of people with the condition, as people with Autism are already working to adapt to the world around them. Our organisation seeks to work for the whole Autism Spectrum, in all its diversity, from the time of diagnosis through to a person’s employment and retirement.

That is why we have decided that the theme of our Inaugural Conference will be “Empowering Potential” with a particular focus on the areas of Education, Employment and Independent Living – we feel this will help to illustrate the spectrum of challenges and opportunities for people with Autism throughout the course of  their lives and also provide something for all strata of the AsIAm family.

peter_closeupWe are delighted to be welcoming leading Irish and International experts in the field to Dublin Castle including Dr. Peter Vermeulen, Dr. David Carey, Professor Gerard Quinn, Yvonne Newbold, Dean Beadle, Geraldine Graydon and our friends in the Middletown Centre for Autism.

We will also hear the voices of people with Autism, and their families, throughout the day, at every juncture.

As an organisation with lots of online activity and events around the country, we are especially excited to see a cross-section of our community come together under one roof and share ideas, experiences and learnings. We will be providing plenty of opportunities for people to chat and get to know each other, with time aside for coffee breaks and lunch on site, as well as to wander through our exhibition area. The exhibition will bring together a cross-section of relevant products, services and information.

We will also be on hand during the day to show you some of our work and projects and how you can get involved.

Putting on a Conference such as this is an expensive venture and so we will actively be seeking sponsorship, for various aspects of the day, over the comings months. We will also rely on the engagement and commitment of exhibitors and Delegates to make the day a success.

We have worked to keep ticket prices as affordable as possible and so are offering an Early-Bird rate of €50 per ticket. This will include your conference pack, coffee breaks and lunch and we feel this represents very good value, especially with the quality of programme.
