It’s nearly the 28th May and that can mean just one thing – the Inaugural AsIAm 100km Fundraising Cycle! We wanted to let everyone know what the aims of the event are and how you can support our brave cyclists!
The Challenge & Route: To cycle 100km from Killiney, through the hills of Wicklow, The Garden of Ireland, and back to Killiney.
The Aim: To raise badly needed funds for AsIAm – while AsIAm has received a number of project grants we receive €0 in core funding, this make it very difficult to keep our operation going
The Goal: To finish the circuit safe and sound in the knowledge that their pains and aches were for a very good reason.
We are grateful for event sponsorship received to date from:
Progress to date: A group of dedicated men and women have been spending their personal time training for this event which will take place on Saturday 28th May.They have no reason to put themselves through this gruelling task other than kindness and generosity to help raise funds for AsIAm.ie Some have personal links with autism many others have none whatsoever but they still want to help and support our organisation to continue working towards our own goals.
Our Chairman, Fintan Tierney, Board member, Pat Casey and a friend of AsIAm, Harry Slowey, have been working so hard over the past two months to put this event together. In the process they have engaged many personal and professional acquaintances to either take part or raise sponsorship. Generous donations have been made from individuals and corporate sponsorship is helping push the total over the target amount.
We at AsIAm would like to extend a very warm welcome to the riders and thank them for all their efforts. While team AsIAm cannot vouch for any cycling skills we will certainly support from the safety of 4 wheels rather than 2. We will be there to welcome all the participants back at the end of their adventure to offer some well earned food and refreshment!
This is the first of what we hope will be many more AsIAm cycles. We would ask all our followers to wish the group well in advance of and on the day of the event. If you see a tired group of cyclists wearing AsIAm jerseys making their way around Wicklow on Saturday 28th May, please cheer them on!
