Community Support Officer
Michael Joined the AsIAm team in October 2018, taking up the role as Community Support Officer. Michael’s role is to assists members of the autism community, family members and professionals with their queries, concerns or issues. Michael also coordinates our Community Support events, which specifically address the needs of the autism community.
Michael has worked with AsIAm in a voluntary capacity since 2015. He has ran three marathons for AsIAm, you’ll often see Michael parading through the streets in his AsIAm running gear, be sure to keep an eye out for him. He co-founded Ireland’s first 5K ‘Run for Autism’ in 2018 and in 2016 helped set up the biennial ‘Sparkle for Autism’ Ball.
Michael is currently studying for his Barrister at Law Degree at King’s Inns with the hope of specialising in Disability Law and Human Rights. He is the proud big brother of a neurodiverse wee man called Gavin, who is the inspiration as to why Michael is working with the autism community but also the reason for him studying law.
Previous to AsIAm Michael worked as the Press, Policy and Research Officer with the Irish SME Association and with European Movement Ireland..
Outside of AsIAm, Michael’s interests include running, dogs and all things history. He is the owner of one very boisterous Golden Retriever (Cooper, also known as Coop).
