Nick Kelly

Having qualified as a solicitor and given up the same day, Nick has spent his working life achieving prominence in three separate areas of creative endeavour.

He first came into the public eye as lead singer and songwriter with much-praised Irish rock band The Fat Lady Sings. Following his decision to split the band in 1994, Nick has gone on to release three award-winning solo albums, gaining a reputation as one of Ireland’s innovative independent musical artists.

In the late 1990s Nick began to work in advertising and quickly earned a reputation as one of Ireland’s leading copywriters and creative consultants. He has won many awards for his advertising work, both locally and internationally, including a Clio for his epic Guinness TV spot “Tom Crean” and an Epica for his Focus Ireland ambient concept “Keys”.

In recent years, Nick has also become known for writing and directing movies. The third of his highly-regarded short films “Shoe” was shortlisted to the last 10 for an Oscar in the Live Action Short category of the 2011 Academy Awards. He is currently developing a number of feature film projects, has begun to direct as well as write TV ads.

Nick lives in his native Dublin with his wife and their two young and busy sons.
