Adam’s Blog: What’s next for AsIAm.ie?
What’s next for AsIAm.ie? YOU ARE!
Since we turned this site live, less than 2 months ago, we have had a really great reaction! We have been delighted to receive, and act, on constructive feedback from so many of our users and with the really great comments and support we have been getting right across the Autism community, including those with expertise in the area.
Getting this feedback was the first important step on our journey. Our next step is now to launch our organisation formally, to celebrate its “birth” and get the word out to as many people, across the Island of Ireland, as possible. Our launch plans are now at an advanced stage and we hope to be able to share more on that with you later this week!
[pullquote_right]Our final important step is one which we are now turning our attention to, and need you to join with us on, that is to get the interactive elements of the site buzzing with activity, stories, experiences and opinions![/pullquote_right]
AsIAm.ie is for you, with you and by you. We want it to be an “online hub” for the Autism community – whether it be a parent who has just found out that their child is on the Spectrum, a parent’s support group who wants to highlight a campaign or fundraiser they are working on, an adult with the condition who wants to share their frustrations, hopes and experiences with others in similar positions, a researcher looking for participants or any member of our community who wants to do something positive to change how people see and live with Autism….that is who AsIAm.ie was built to serve
Ideally, we would love for our launch party to have as many members signed up to our site as possible, we have worked hard to make the registration process easier for both member and support group this week, resolving previous difficulties, and so we really encourage you to take the 5 minutes to sign-up:
For an individual here
For a support group here
And when you do…please made this community your own. We would love if you:
1) Start posting in the forum threads: We post topics for discussion after many of our articles but you can even consider asking your own questions and starting your own discussions in the forum. We will use this content to formulate our content, campaigns and work. Check out of our forums here
2) Share events: Let us know of any Autism-related events you are holding or involved with in the events calender.
3) Feel free to comment under articles with your views
4) Use your profile: Every user and support group gets one automatically when you register. Here you can personalise your profile, share your experiences, write blogs, post content and share with other users – all in your own profile – which you can have as private or public as YOU choose!
5) Submit Content: If you have a burning issue or experience you would love to share – why not submit an article, video or photo for publication on the site?
[pullquote_right]Why not make a resolution this week – to do at least one of these activities and to share this post with EVERY Autism contact you have![/pullquote_right]
Many thanks – really looking forward to sharing the next exciting few weeks with you and the whole AsIAm community!
Adam 🙂
