SuperValu & AsIAm are delighted to announce the next Community Support Webinar: Autism and the Law: your child’s rights and entitlements
An understanding of the law is crucial in advocating for your child’s right to education, support and care. Knowing which of your child’s needs are protected and upheld legally can be daunting, but we have assembled experts to help in this. This webinar will discuss autism and the law and will feature Gareth Noble (KOD Lyons). He will be discussing rights and entitlements – touching on the Assessment of Need, reduced timetables, right to a school place/resources, access to financial supports (disability allowance, carers, etc). Gareth is recognised as one of Ireland’s leading litigators in the area of children with disabilities. He is also a leading lawyer in child protection cases and acts on behalf of children and their court-appointed Guardians. He is also a board member with EPIC (Empowering People in Care).
The second speaker is Julie Ahern (Children’s Right’s Alliance). Julie will be speaking about the Children’s Right’s Alliance, the service and their legal and policy work. Julie joined the Children’s Rights Alliance in September 2013 and is the Legal and Policy manager. Prior to joining the Alliance, she worked on the children’s rights referendum campaign with the ISPCC and NASC (The Irish Immigrant Support Centre). Julie is a qualified barrister having been called in 2018.
If you are interested, please register here. Places are limited so make sure to book quickly. If you can’t attend the webinar, remember it will be made available on our Youtube page along with the rest of our Community Support Webinars.
