AsIAm is hosting twenty four Community Support Seminar talks around the country over the next twelve months. These events are for the autism community, on issues important to the community, informed by the community. The first of these talks in 2019 is “Autism: Independent Living and Housing”. Speakers on the night will include:
Darragh Byrne, Director of Services at Gheel Autism Services CLG. Darragh has over 8 years of experience working in the Autism sector. He has managed Gheel Outreach programme within Gheel Autism Services for a number of years. Darragh has management experience in the private sector. Darragh has qualification in Autism Studies from Birmingham University and holds a degree in Business Studies from Dublin Institute of Technology.
Dr Geraldine Leader, Director of Research at the DOCTRID Research Institute and Senior Lecturer in Psychology at NUI Galway, with a special interest in autism. DOCTRID was established in 2010 by the charity RESPECT and the Daughters of Charity Disability services. The institute is committed to evidence-based research in autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability with a special emphasis on technology. Geraldine will explore the topic of Independent Learning and Assistive Technology.
