AsIAm is delighted to announce the launch of 22 autism resources as Gaelige, made in consultation with Gaeloideachas. These resources are based on our Bridge Back to School booklet from last summer.
COVID-19 has posed challenges for every household in Ireland and for many autistic people, the loss of structure and routine has been particularly tough. As people return to education re-establishing routines in settings that may have changed substantially will be a challenge. Ourlearning resources were developed to help those with high support needs prepare during the summer months to return to school in September.
However, our resources were previously only written in English. The resource packs compiles with the help of Gaeloideachas will help autistic young people attending a naíonra or Irish-medium or Gaeltacht school. They will also help teachers and other students to better understand the needs of autistic students. Irish is the day-to-day language of communication and learning for these young people, and with these new resource packs we can finally start to close this gap.
The autism resources include Gaelige versions of posters, booklets, worksheets, sensory checklists and a passport for naíonraí to help with the transition to school. AsIAm is extremely grateful to Gaeloideachas for their diligence and passion for this exciting project and we look forward to working with them again in the future.
The resources are available to download as PDFs below. For more details on ordering prints, check here.
