Parents and family members of those autistic people are the unsung heroes of the autism community.
Being autistic can bring its fair share of challenges; ensuring your loved one gets appropriate diagnosis and support services, coping with the demands of your loved one’s needs and behaviour and ensuring that they get every opportunity to fulfill their potential and live as happy and independent lives as they can.
We are very conscious of how parents and family members can often feel alone and unsupported – isolated both socially and geographically, worn out and unsure where to go to next to ensure your loved one’s well-being.
We hope that this site will be somewhere you can share with each other, your experiences, concerns and ideas. Where you can be filled with hope for your child and access information in relation to support services and resources local to you.
In providing our content we hope to give you a good spread of basic information.
AsIAm can do so much more for you through your involvement online – contributing on the forums, submitting content and giving us feedback.
Please do make the most of it and let us know where we could grow or improve.
P.S. You’re doing a really great job – thank you on behalf of all autistic people!Top
