Last May, the Board of Directors of AsIAm.ie was honoured to be received by the President, to brief him on our work and our vision for building an inclusive Ireland for those living with Autism and their families.
Following the visit, we wrote to President Higgins and asked him to consider becoming the Patron of our organisation and we were delighted to receive a letter of acceptance from the President’s office this week.
Speaking in response to the news, Adam Harris, Founder-CEO of AsIAm.ie said “President Higgins has been a wonderful advocate for inclusion and equality throughout his entire career in public life. As an organisation, we feel very honoured that the President has agreed to become the Patron of AsIAm. At times, families affected by Autism can feel dis-empowered and voiceless and that is why we feel it is so significant that the head of state would show his support for our work and vision by becoming our Patron.
