Professional Webinar: Autism Friendly Santa Experience

Overview

This webinar is aims to support all staff involved in Santa experiences to make it safe and inclusive for autistic families.

This professional webinar is designed to support all staff involved in Santa experiences (e.g., Santa’s grottos, seasonal events, meet-and-greet sessions) in creating an environment where autistic and neurodivergent children and their families feel safe, understood and included.

While Santa visits are often seen as an exciting tradition for families, many autistic individuals face several barriers that can result in children and families feeling excluded from what should be an exciting time for all.

This training aims to build understanding of autism and neurodiversity, explore the challenges autistic individuals may experience during Santa visits, and equip staff with practical strategies to create flexible, welcoming, and neuro-affirming Santa experiences.

Agenda:

  • Understanding Autism and Neurodiversity
  • Barriers for Autistic individuals with santa experiences
  • Recognising individual needs
  • Creating a neuro-affirming Santa experience
  • Effective communication and engagement
  • Resources and support networks
