Aoife Monaghan

Policy Officer

Aoife Monaghan is a Policy Officer at AsIAm, working as part of the Policy, Legal and Information Line team, with a particular focus on education. In this role, she engages with educational stakeholders and external partners, contributes to policy development, consultations and submissions, and supports advocacy on issues affecting autistic people. Aoife holds a BA in Government (Politics, Law and Economics) and an MA in Public Policy from the University of Galway. She has experience across Irish and European policy environments, including as a trainee at the European Parliament. In this role she supported the work of an Irish MEP across a range of policy areas including agricultural policy and acted as the contact point for the MEP’s work on the Intergroup on Mental Health. She subsequently worked as an Administrative Assistant in Leinster House, supporting a Member of Seanad Éireann with a focus on housing policy. She has also gained policy and research experience through various internships and EU-funded projects spanning policy areas such as financial inclusion and environmental policy. She is committed to advancing the rights of autistic people and working towards an inclusive society that is accessible, accepting and affirming.
