Today we held an event with IrishJobs and employers from all over the country, who are on the journey to become an Autism Friendly Employer. We heard from two members of the community about their own personal experience of employment and also heard from two employers, who are leading the change in developing a culture of inclusion, and embracing diversity.
Our most recent figures suggest that 85% of autistic individuals in Ireland are either unemployed or under employed. We want to work with employers to give the same chance accessing employment and building your career for the autistic community. Today, we spoke about the inclusive recruitment digital badge package that we provide and we launched our SME Same chance toolkit.
The SME Same Chance Toolkit provides small to medium enterprises with the step-by-step guide to help them recruit, support, maintain and develop the untapped potential of the autistic talent pool readily available to work. This toolkit will provide guidance and support to employers around reasonable accommodations workplace, supports, holding inclusive interviews and supporting candidates to the onboarding process.
In addition to this, the toolkit includes details of a wide range of government supports available to SMEs.
